Check out our new scoreboard! The fund drive for the new Essex three-sport scoreboard has been a huge success! Due to the generosity of 200 donors we have successfully raised enough money to buy a new scoreboard and get it installed in time for the baseball season! The original goal was to have it in time for the 2009 football season but enough funds were donated so quickly we were able to purchase and install the scoreboard just in time for the first baseball game played in Essex on May 28th. The picture shows the score of the Essex Junior High Baseball team’s game, the first game using the new scoreboard. Donations totaling $18,175 were received from many alumni, parents, community members, clubs, and businesses. This was truly a community effort and once again shows how the Essex community steps up when they see a need. The Booster Club would like to sincerely thank all the generous donors for their contributions! We would like to extend a special thanks to Mrs Kimberly Peterson and her Computer Applications class who prepared letters for the fund drive and to all those that helped install the scoreboard: Dave Alexander, Leland Ackerburg, Jeff Heinold, Brian Johnson, Mike Johnson, and Mike Resh. Special thanks also to Les, Brian, and Allen Kirchert of Kirchert Electric for all the electrical work and Bob Christenson for the equipment used to hang it and leading the installation crew. See the link for a list of all the donors. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
